Q: What are the plants chosen for the free members-only plant?

2016 MEMBERS-ONLY FREE PLANT GIVEAWAY

Saturday, October 22 | 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday, October 23 | noon - 4 p.m. 

A: Choose your free plant from eight different flowering shrubs.
Stop by the First Floor Adventures Classroom in the Garden Center to pick up your free plant and then head out to Blount Plaza and shop the Fall Plant Sale. Limit one plant per membership. No rainchecks.

Q: How do I receive my free admission tickets for the Spring Plant Sale Members-only Sale?

A: You will receive a postcard via mail that may be used for entrance. We will also have a check-in list for anyone without a membership card or postcard. Your membership will admit:

One person ($10 value) at the following levels:
Student, YP Individual & Trillium

Two people ($20 value) at the following levels:
YP Couple, Hydrangea

Three people ($30 value) at the following levels:
Magnolia, Oak, Ambassador & President’s Circle


Q: How do I receive my free admission tickets for Antiques at The Gardens?

A: Your free admission tickets will not be mailed. You can pickup your tickets at Will Call at the event during event hours. Your membership will admit:

One person ($15 value) at the following levels:
Student, YP Individual & Trillium

Two people ($30 value) at the following levels:
YP Couple, Hydrangea

Three people ($45 value) at the following levels:
Magnolia, Oak

Four people ($60 value) at the following levels:
Ambassador, Presiden'ts Circle


Q: How do I attend a members-only class?

A: As a current member, you have the exclusive opportunity to attend four members-only classes for FREE. Pre-registration is required. Future members-only classes will be posted in The Garden Dirt, our e-newsletter and on our website. Member classes are not available to the public. Your membership will admit:

One person ($80 value) to all four classes at the following levels:
Student, YP Individual & Trillium

Two people ($160 value) to all four clases at the following levels:
YP Couple, Hydrangea

Three people ($240 value) to all four classes at the following levels:
Magnolia, Oak

Four people ($320 value) to all four classes at the following levels:
Ambassador, President's Circle


Q: What are the other gardens that have reciprocal privileges?

A: Click here to see an up-to-date list of particpating gardens. Call all gardens ahead of time before you plan your visit. Some gardens have certain exclusions for special events, or if you live within 90 miles of the garden and each garden has its own unique admissions policy and hours of operations.

Be sure to take your current membership card with you.


Q: How do I get my free members-only gift?

A: You will receive a free gift voucher in your membership packet when you join or renew. Your free gift can be picked up in our office during normal business hours (M-F; 8-5 p.m.). When you enter the Garden Center, take the elevator or stairs to the second floor. You must present your voucher to receive your free gift. Only one free gift per membership per year and gifts will not be mailed. 


Q: How do I get my out-of-county library card?

A: The normal charge for an out-of-county library card is $50 per year, The Library at Birmingham Botanical Gardens will waive $35 of that fee if you are a current member of The Gardens. To get your library card you must bring your current membership card and current AL driver’s license to The Library at Birmingham Botanical Gardens. The $15 is a yearly fee and must be renewed at The Library at Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Contact The Library at 205.414.3920 if you have any questions.


Q: I am a member at the Hydrangea (or higher) level, when will I begin to receive my subscription to Birmingham Home & Garden?

A: Your current membership provides a one-year subscription (6 issues) to Birmingham Home & Garden. Due to processing, it can take 4-8 weeks for you to receive your first issue. Your complimentary subscription does not include special editions.


Q: How do I receive my member discount in the gift shop or at the cafe?

A: Members should present their current membership card at checkout to receive discount. Members dining in the cafe should mention to their waiter that they are a current member. The gift shop discount is only applicable at Leaf & Petal at The Gardens and does not apply to other Leaf & Petal locations.


Q: I'm supposed to receive a free garden related book with my membership. When will I be able to pick it up?

A: Members at the Magnolia (and higher) level receive a free garden related book. You will receive a notice in the mail sometime in September with the current years choices and a time when the books will be available. Only one book per membership per year. Books are only available during the specified time frame and will not be mailed. Pickup takes place in The Library.


Q: How many cards are included with my membership?

A: All levels receive one card per membership. Additional cards may be requested, but are not required.


Q: If I forget to bring my membership card, can I still visit The Gardens?

A: There is no admission charge to enter The Gardens. Your membership card grants you access to special members-only events and discounts.


Q: How can I replace a lost/stolen membership card?

A: Please contact the membership assistant at 205.414.3950 for a replacement card. Please allow up to one week for delivery.


Q: How can I keep up on The Gardens events and news?

A: As a member, you will receive The Garden Dirt, our member newsletter. Updates and a calendar of events are also available on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Don't forget to sign up for our e-newsletter, The Dirt E-lert.


Q: Is my membership tax deductible?

A: Yes. Your payment, less the fair market value of the benefits you receive, is deductible for income tax purposes. You can waive your benefits and receive full tax-deductibility. Please indicate this on your membership form. Under Internal Revenue Services guidelines, the tax-deductibility of the membership levels are as follows:
Individual - $45.00
Family - $60.00
Magnolia - $100
Oak - $225
Ambassador - $475
President’s Circle - $875
