Central Alabama Daylily Society Daylily Sale

Public Sale: 8:30 a.m. - until sold out

Central Alabama Daylily Society (CADS) is pleased to announce their annual Daylily sale taking place on Saturday May 5, 2012 at the Garden Center of Birmingham Botanical Gardens, the best sale of daylilies in the area.

The doors to the sale open at 8:30 a.m. (until sold out) when you will be able to select and purchase from a large variety of modern cultivars, most of which are not readily available at local garden centers.

CADS is made up of dedicated and knowledgeable collectors and growers available to answer any questions you might have about choosing Daylilies as well as how to grow and care for them. Information on how to become a member of both the local (CADS) and national organization (AHS - American Hemerocallis Society) will also be available.

Be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, May 5 at 8:30 a.m. This is a popular event where the best plants usually go fast, and we are giving the first 50 buyers a free daylily, so make it a point get there as soon as possible.

60th Annual Birmingham Rose Show

The 2012 Birmingham Rose Show will be its 60th and promises to be one of the largest yet. The Show this year will be held May 12 & 13. This year's show will include entries for Horticulture, Arrangements & Photography. There is also a planned seminar on Saturday: "Yes, You Can Grow Beautiful Roses." Of course, all events are free and open to the public.

Birmingham Fern Society's Free Annual Lecture

Barbara Joe Hoshizaki is the president of the American Fern Society and former professor of botany at Los Angeles City College. She is the author of Fern Grower's Manual, one of the most comprehensive books on ferns, containing information on over 700 species.

Alabama Bonsai Society Spring Show

This annual show features some of the most exquisite bonsai in the southeast. These miniaturized trees all belong to members of the Bonsai Society.

Bonsai trees, pots and tools will be available for sale.

Members of the Alabama Bonsai Society will be available to discuss the aspects of bonsai and the care of your trees.

Admission is free.

The Birmingham Fern Society will hold its 36th annual Fern Show & Sale in the Strange Auditorium at Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Wednesday, June 20, 2012. Everyone is invited to enter their ferns in the show. Entries will be accepted from 8-10 a.m. The public is invited to attend the show and the sale from 1-5 p.m. A large variety of ferns will be available for purchase at very reasonable prices.
