What does a docent do?
Docents at Birmingham Botanical Gardens are a committed, vibrant group of interpreters that support guest learning and exploration at The Gardens. After shadowing three docent-led tours and attending the required training sessions, participants will be ready to present programs for adults and children, interpret the botanical collections and seasonal highlights of The Gardens, assist with Arrington Plant Adventures programs and facilitate The Gardens signature curriculum-based classes. In addition, docents will be invited to participate in developing and refining new educational programs, assist with special events and help visitors make lasting memories at The Gardens.
