Birmingham Botanical Gardens is open to all, every day of the week. Spring/summer hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (through November 6). In light of the increased number of Covid-19 cases in Birmingham and Alabama, the City of Birmingham has implemented an ordinance requiring face coverings inside City-owned buildings and venues, including the Garden Center and other indoor facilities at the Gardens, effective July 29, 2021.  Meet The Gardens: A Treasure Map

 

Our backpack programs are currently on hiatus as we revamp our programming for the upcoming school year. You are more than welcome to visit The Gardens on your own for a self-guided summer tour. Please visit bbgardens.org/documents/treasuremapforweb.pdf to download Meet The Gardens: A Treasure Map, your guide to discover highlights of our living collection. Designed for all ages to enjoy. Great for children’s groups and families. Based on Alabama Course of Study, Science. Monday-Sunday | Free

Girl Scouts can earn badges on their visit to The Gardens! Leaders check out a Discovery Backpack to guide scouts on a garden exploration following Meet The Gardens: A Treasure Map while earning badges through activities based on Journeys requirements for Girl Scouts.

Backpacks include a troop leader's guide and materials to complete requirements on site. Birmingham Botanical Gardens patches are available. Available Monday - Friday, 3- 5 p.m., Saturday, 10 - noon and 1 - 3 p.m. and Sunday, 2 - 4 p.m. There is no fee. Call 205.414.3953 to reserve your backpack.
