Birmingham Botanical Gardens is open to all, every day of the week. Spring/summer hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (March 13–November 5). Please note that face coverings are optional inside City of Birmingham-owned buildings and venues, including the Garden Center and other indoor facilities at the Gardens, effective March 1, 2022. This program is a part of our new Family Fun Days series.

Fun encounters in the Gardens for the whole family! Different topics each week will provide opportunities for visitors of all ages to discover the wonders of the Gardens.

Take a walk in the Gardens’ Conservatory, see our iconic poinsettia tree, and hear Tomie dePaola's The Legend of the Poinsettia—a heartwarming retelling of the Mexican folktale about the origin of the poinsettia.




Refunds (minus a $15 processing fee) will be given for Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens programs priced at $25 or more if notification is made at least 10 business days prior to class start date. (You are always welcome to send another person under your registration if you cannot attend.) Transfers may be made to programs of equal value at no additional fee. We reserve the right to cancel classes due to lack of participation or other unforeseen circumstances. Please note that programs are held rain or shine; in extreme weather conditions, programs may be canceled for your safety and the safety of staff and volunteers. If we cancel a program for any of these reasons, we will issue a full refund.
