Birmingham Botanical Gardens is open!
A cherished place of respite for our community and visitors from around the world for more than 55 years, Birmingham Botanical Gardens is open to all, and we look forward to your visit. The Gardens are currently open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the week, with access limited to the front entrance gates. Visitors are encouraged to practice social distancing. Cost: $60 (Members of the Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens) | $75 (Non-members)

This 6-hour introduction to the study of native plants will be a broad overview of several topics relevant to native plants including terminology and definitions, the benefits of native plants, plant conservation, recommended references, and historical and contemporary uses in our landscapes. Other topics to be discussed include plant identification, designing with natives, and how to grow them. This class will benefit those who have already taken other Native Plants Studies classes, as well as anyone interested in the topic.


Refunds (minus a $15 processing fee) will be given for Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens programs priced at $25 or more if notification is made at least 10 business days prior to class start date. (You are always welcome to send another person under your registration if you cannot attend.) Transfers may be made to programs of equal value at no additional fee. We reserve the right to cancel classes due to lack of participation or other unforeseen circumstances. Please note that programs are held rain or shine; in extreme weather conditions, programs may be canceled for your safety and the safety of staff and volunteers. If we cancel a program for any of these reasons, we will issue a full refund.
