By the early 1800s, many of the large French and English estates dissolved and botanical favor turned to plots of a few acres. The English Cottage-style garden soon became an ideal, with its wide variety of plants offering rich colors, endless textures, and intoxicating fragrances, all right outside the door. Family Focus: Gladiolus, Pea, Lily, Tulip, Daylily, Olive, Plumbago
