Saturdays in the Gardens: The Dirt on Composting

Saturdays in the Gardens: The Dirt on Composting

Saturday, November 20, 2021 | 10:00 a.m.-noon

Location: Blount Plaza

Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens Members: $16 | Non-members: $20

Join Friends staff and volunteers to explore the Gardens’ collections, peek behind the scenes, and learn how to garden like a pro. Novice and seasoned gardeners are welcome!

Learn about the ins and outs of composting and hear about Alabama's first ever community scale composting from our friends at Field Culture Compost in Bessemer, AL. Community Composting addresses critical issues, such as food deserts, recycling, and community health by helping to improve water and air quality, promoting alternative and clean energies, and improving connectivity within the community at large. Novice and seasoned gardeners are welcome!

Refunds (minus a $15 processing fee) will be given for Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens programs priced at $25 or more if notification is made at least 10 business days prior to class start date. (You are always welcome to send another person under your registration if you cannot attend.) Transfers may be made to programs of equal value at no additional fee. We reserve the right to cancel classes due to lack of participation or other unforeseen circumstances. Please note that programs are held rain or shine; in extreme weather conditions, programs may be canceled for your safety and the safety of staff and volunteers. If we cancel a program for any of these reasons, we will issue a full refund.
