Volunteering

It takes a lot to care for a 67-acre garden! Volunteer with the Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens and join our efforts to sustain this urban oasis and all that it makes possible.

We welcome adults and teens, young professionals and retirees, master gardeners and plant novices.* When you participate in the Friends’ volunteer program, you join people from all walks of life and all age groups who share your interest in the natural world.

Help with a special event or out in the Gardens, as a tour guide or a library assistant. Apply to serve on our Junior Board. Whatever your talents or passions, you will find countless opportunities to make an impact at the Gardens and in your community. No experience is needed—you will learn as you grow! Experienced volunteers train and mentor the next generation, continuing the important pipeline and furthering our mission.
