Join the Japan America Society of Alabama and the Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens to celebrate Tanabata, the Japanese “Star Festival.” Marking the reunion of two star-crossed lovers according to legend, this festival occurs on the 7th day of the 7th month and is celebrated with performances, traditional activities like calligraphy, and the tradition of writing wishes on colorful strips of paper and attaching to bamboo.
