Crape Myrtle Garden

Just beyond the rose gardens lies a shaded stone seating area that celebrates the crape myrtle, the iconic Southern tree cherished for its beauty in both form and flower.

A Quiet Retreat

In summer, crape myrtles shower gardens with small fluffy blossoms in colors that range from white and pink to red and lavender. In the Crape Myrtle Garden, ‘Natchez’ crape myrtles frame the bottom terrace, with ‘Biloxi’ and ‘Apalachee’ gracing the perimeter terraces.

When the blooms of these trees have faded and the leaves have dropped, the crape myrtle’s strong sculptural form takes center stage, revealing its smooth muscular bark and striking structure. This garden is a favorite spot for outdoor classes or quiet reflection.
