Design & Create: Concrete Planters
Learn the fundamentals of working with concrete as you design and cast your own custom planters from start to finish. Artist and Vivatia Plant Care Services owner Astrid Jerez will guide you through the process of creating your own planters while learning foundational techniques in concrete, design, and plant styling. Each participant will take home 3–4 unique planters—no experience needed.
Instructor: Astrid Jerez
Astrid Jerez is a botanical and mixed media artist whose work explores the connection between art and living plants. Through her creative practice, she transforms natural elements into expressive pieces that invite people to bring more greenery and intention into their everyday spaces.
She is the founder of Vivatia Plant Care Services, an interiorscaping business based in Birmingham, where she designs and installs indoor and outdoor plant environments for homes and businesses—bringing life, texture, and balance into every corner. Astrid’s workshops blend creativity with hands-on learning, making art both approachable and functional. Her teaching style is warm, encouraging, and rooted in the belief that anyone can create something beautiful with their hands—especially when inspired by nature.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Refunds (minus a $15 processing fee) will be given for Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens programs priced at $25 or more if notification is made at least 10 business days prior to class start date. (You are always welcome to send another person under your registration if you cannot attend.) Transfers may be made to programs of equal value at no additional fee. We reserve the right to cancel classes due to lack of participation or other unforeseen circumstances. Please note that programs are held rain or shine; in extreme weather conditions, programs may be canceled for your safety and the safety of staff and volunteers. If we cancel a program for any of these reasons, we will issue a full refund.
